on every dollar

The Hacker Factor. One idea from the city, turned into one working app in a day, live on a room full of screens. DJs from the first hour building toward a headliner at night, painters around the perimeter all day, the room running the app on their phones and telling the teams what they think while it is still being built, money moving in public. Community solutions through technology and art.

What your name is on

Most sponsorship buys attention. This buys the moment an idea becomes real. The city backed it before a dollar was spent, the teams built it in a day, the room used it before it was announced, the product keeps building itself after, and the public record says whether it is still in use. It publishes either way, which is the only reason to believe it when it is good.

We sequence the money last. By the time you are asked, the room is booked, the show is signed and the floor is built. Then we say from the stage: the night is already paid for, so everything from here goes to the people building. Your seat makes that sentence true.

The tiers

One founding round, three tiers, seven seats. These are the sponsors we are looking for, and the recognition follows the tier. The amount is a conversation; where the money lands on the night is our work, and we publish every dollar of it after.

TierSeatsWhat it carries
Founding Sponsor1Named as the founding underwriter of the program for as long as it exists, including in the playbook every future chapter carries.
Founding Partners2Named on the founding record, permanently, and from the stage at the opening and the reveal.
Founding Circle4Named on the founding record, permanently, and from the stage.

In kind is welcome beside cash and always stated separately from it: model and cloud credits, tooling, space, food, hands. The credits roll names every giver at every size, and ordering by size happens at no point.

It comes back as development work

We build software for a living, so part of every seat returns to you as build: your platform, your site, your tools, an AI layer trained on what your people know. A delivery quarter is named in the letter. We would like to still be working with you in three years.

Your name is on both rooms, the one in the building and the one everywhere else. And three things stay off the table: the city chooses the idea, the room chooses the score, and your name attaches to the night, never to the idea.

Who we are looking for

Companies that want their name on something that happened, because a city asked for it. We read the sponsor lists of ninety hackathons before we wrote this page. Two things stood out. The companies who give the most give things as often as money, and the sponsors who look most generous are the ones whose gift is described. So the board names what you gave, in one sentence, whatever it was. These are the sponsors we are looking for, and why.

  • The Frontier Seat

    OpenAI · Anthropic · xAI · Google

The lab, or labs, that carry every credit and token the night burns. GPT, Claude, Grok, Gemini, any combination of the four. The line is Powered by, with your mark, on every screen, the stream and every repo the night produces.

  • Companies already backing Texas builders

Capital One · Visa · Toyota · NVIDIA

You already sponsor HackTX and HackUTD. These are the same builders a few years on, building for the city they live in, in front of four hundred people and a show.

  • Austin companies whose business is the impact

    ICON · Indeed · Bumble

Housing, work, connection. When an episode's challenge lands in your field, your seat makes you the natural partner as well as the name on the night.

  • Seed and Series A companies

    Developer mindshare

Companies that want the builders in the room to know them, and a place on the record of the first night. Most companies that sponsor a hackathon sponsor exactly one. Make it this one.

  • The Texas foundations

The Moody Foundation · St. David's Foundation

Texas-focused, open to a conversation, and a fit for a program that publishes what it did for people in this state, at 90 and 180 days, under your name.

  • In kind, on equal footing

    Space · hardware · food · hands

Twenty two of Austin's forty two civic hackathon sponsors gave things. Yours reads on the board in the same sentence as a check, and it earns development credit dollar for dollar on fair value.

If your company is one of these, or belongs beside them, we would love to talk. If your people would want to be in the room, you are who we are looking for.

How to say yes

  1. 01

    Tell us you are in

The form on this page, or Daniel Lawless directly.

  2. 02

    We talk

One conversation on which tier fits and what your development credit is spent on.

  3. 03

    You sign a letter

Your tier, your places in the room, your credit, the quarter we deliver it in.

What it gives back

Your money funds a night. What it leaves behind is a product in the hands of this city, the idea it asked for and voted to the top, run by the organization it chose, kept alive by a product that builds itself. The report at 90 and 180 days is the receipt for the good it did, under your name and theirs. And the substrate your seat built travels to the next city, so the giving compounds.
