The Hacker Factor. One idea from the city, turned into one working app in a day, live on a room full of screens. DJs from the first hour building toward a headliner at night, painters around the perimeter all day, the room running the app on their phones and telling the teams what they think while it is still being built, money moving in public. Community solutions through technology and art.

The room we want first

Fair Market, 1100 E 5th. A large open hall with a flexible floor, an established event operation and a stage that already hosts shows. The best room in the city for a day that runs on music. The conversation is open.

It happens in a room. Art and building meet when people stand in the same space, watching the same thing, at the same time. That is why yours matters more than the screens.

What we bring to your Saturday

A room full from noonBuilders from ten, doors at twelve, a room that chose to spend a Saturday here and stays
A bar that runs all dayThe break is when the room eats and drinks. The show brings a second crowd into a room already alive
Music all day, a ticketed show at eightDJs from the first hour and a headliner booked by Green Fire, on your stage, streamed to a second room
A crew that has run rooms beforeLoad in Friday, strike Sunday, the night in between

A Saturday is your most valuable date. We ask for it because of what comes with it. The room needs four visible teams with sightlines, screens wherever the room can see them, wall space for painters, build grade uplink and power, a stage and a PA. Load in Friday, strike Sunday.

Who we are looking for

A room that wants the city in it, building for itself. We priced the Saturday, walked the list, and these are the rooms at the top of it. Fair Market is first, above. If you run one of the rooms below, we would love to talk. If you run a room that reads itself into the requirements above, the same is true.

  • Mohawk

    Red River

The strongest show credibility in the city, indoor and outdoor. The open question is whether a daytime build floor works on Red River, and we would like to find out with you.

  • Capital Factory

    701 Brazos

Solves the hardest technical requirement outright: build grade uplink, and the startup audience already in the building. Hack AI already runs here every month.

  • The Cathedral

    East 11th

A deconsecrated church turned art space. The look the design wants, if it can carry a show.

  • Antone's

    East 5th

An Austin institution. The name carries weight with artists, and the floor around a fixed stage is a puzzle we would enjoy solving.

  • Scholz Garten

    San Jacinto

Hall plus beer garden, historic, large. The hall would need sound treatment, and the garden is the break.

  • ACL Live at the Moody Theater

    The finale

The strongest artist draw in the city. For December, when the room doubles.

Saturday 16 January, setup Friday, strike Sunday, the full day. You run the bar and keep every dollar of it; we run the day, the show and the stream. Daniel Lawless takes the conversation.

What it gives back

On 16 January, your room is where Austin builds for itself. An idea comes off a public board, becomes a working tool under your roof, and goes home on Monday with the organization the city chose to run it. The first night on the record has your address on it.
